It is possible to find a physical boundary on a furthest part of Al Khiran, Kuwait. A singular object that pulls itself and the Persian Gulf closely together. A sort of bridge standing out, yet softly attached to the ground.
Uniting these two elements — water and earth — the corporeal geometry of the object intensifies this visual and tactile connection by opening itself in various torsions towards the sea. At the same time, it manages to turn itself into a perimeter ‘U’ shaped form. In this way it creates privacy, protection against the exterior elements — wind — and focuses the view in the primordial direction — the sea.
The main constructed living body levitates above the ground in order to clear any visual obstructions as well as to inhabit the exterior lower spaces. With this movement, the physical outcome is established allowing room for a natural landscape to settle in. A central natural core is defined, highlighted by the punctual organic forms in concrete that pins the levitated body to the ground.
In a sinuous and natural movement, the ground level wanders from the earth element to the water element, passing through a moment of stillness where you can stay and enjoy the alternative ambience.
The terrace on the upper floor may be considered one of the best reflections of these intentions. It embodies the main concept, a core gathering central point with privileged views towards the sea, but also to the natural exterior hub in the center, with three fronts being protected by the volumes around.
